The Sustainability NEXUS Vision:

We envision true sustainability - a world in which social, environmental and economic systems are understood and managed as deeply interdependent; a world in which the complex relationships between these systems is increasingly recognized, and decision-making and innovation are well-informed by that ever-evolving knowledge; a world that prioritizes this knowledge and understanding can lead to regenerative and indefinitely repeatable practices.

We envision an infrastructure to facilitate and support this true sustainability - a deeply integrated network of regional nerve-centers, which by coalescing efforts in each region, represents a foundation for basic understanding of our interwoven world. Facilitating collaboration enables innovation to drive us toward increasingly elegant ways of meeting human needs while also regenerating other living systems.

The Sustainability NEXUS Mission:

To accelerate our progression toward true sustainability by establishing uniquely respondent regional centers that coalesce the abundant but fragmented energy and talent already flowing into social and environmental sustainability goals in each region.

The NEXUS Program Areas:

The NEXUS Resource Center

Based on proven models for community cyber-cafes, resource centers and equipment sharing programs throughout the country, these spaces will serve as the NEXUS front-of-house, and the address for sustainability education in the region, as well as the high-visibility “front-door” for our many partner organizations already leading the region in various dimensions of sustainability advocacy and service.

The EcoSocEnt NEXUS

Understanding that true sustainability grows out of perhaps ONLY a co-created community and culture, this coworking space will be set up in keeping with the example of the social entrepreneurship HUB network. It will link that model to the regional network of social AND environmental leaders. This space will serve as the place in which their energy can coalesce, integrate, and gain sophistication and momentum through symbiosis.

NEXUS Charrette, Event & Meeting Space (CEMistry / CoLab)

Building upon the day-to-day community of innovation fostered by the The EcoSocEnt NEXUS and its programs, this charrette, event and meeting space will be structured and wired to support the highest levels of collaboration and creativity for that group, as well as other members of the region who would like to utilize the resources. This venue will provide the necessary infrastructure for best-practice processes of brainstorming, team and community building, collaboration, planning, design, team-based and technology-based analysis, and downright FUN meetings.
